Pet Surgery
Surgery, Reimagined: Calm, Safe, and Centered on Your Pet
At Long Meadow Veterinary Clinic, surgery is more than a procedure—it’s a carefully-planned experience built around your pet’s comfort and your peace of mind. Our veterinary team combines advanced monitoring, tailored care, and clear communication to help pets and pet parents feel supported from start to finish. Most procedures are out-patient. Your pet arrives in the morning and goes home the same day.
Safety First, Comfort Always
Pre-anesthetic lab work helps to confirm your pet’s health and allows your veterinarian to tailor anesthesia and pain management plans. Our veterinary team uses ECG, EtCO₂, blood pressure, temperature and oxygen saturation monitoring to ensure your pet is safe and comfortable at every step, and a dedicated anesthesia technician is focused solely on your pet’s safety throughout the procedure.

Soft Tissue Surgery
Our team performs a wide range of soft tissue procedures, with personalized plans and clear communication:
- Mass removals (skin and subcutaneous)
- Cancer-related procedures (where appropriate)
- Splenectomies
- Gastrointestinal surgeries—foreign body removal, mass removals, biopsies
- Gastropexy (to help prevent GDV/bloat when indicated)
- Cystotomies (bladder surgeries)
- Hernia repairs
- Eye procedures—eyelid/eye mass removals, cherry eye corrections

Orthopedic Options
We also offer a broad array of orthopedic procedures, discussed and planned case-by-case:
- ACL/CCL surgeries for stifle stabilization
- FHO (femoral head ostectomy)
- Fracture repairs, including complex cases, when appropriate
Puppy & Kitten Spay/Neuter—With a Personalized Timeline
Spay/neuter is not one-size-fits-all. We personalize the timing based on age, breed, size, and health. For some larger-breed dogs, a later timeline may be better—we’ll talk through benefits and considerations so you can choose what’s best for your pet.
Add-on options can sometimes be completed at the same time, such as gastropexy, hernia repairs, and certain developmental procedures. Lab work is included in the cost to help ensure a safe anesthesia plan.
Creating a Tailored Surgical Plan For Your Pet
Whether you’re planning a spay/neuter, considering a mass removal, or addressing an orthopedic concern, we’ll help you choose the right timing and approach for your pet. Expect low-stress care, advanced monitoring, and compassionate guidance every step of the way. Call today to learn more.
