Pet Preventive & Wellness Care
Wellness That Wags: Personalized Preventive Care for Dogs & Cats
At Long Meadow Veterinary Clinic, preventive care is more than a checklist—it’s a customized experience built around your family. Our veterinary team uses low-stress handling techniques and thoughtfully provides tailored care so pet parents can focus on what matters most: keeping their pets happy, healthy, and thriving.
Low-Stress, High-Trust Visits
We create positive experiences using rewards your pet loves—treats, toys, gentle pauses, comfy mats, and soothing handling. Want to stay closely involved? You can be as involved as you want, and we can keep everything in the room during the visit. Every appointment is personalized to what your pet (and you) find most comfortable.
How Often Should My Pet Be Seen?
Pets can’t tell us what’s wrong. Ongoing wellness care is a team effort among your veterinarian, your pet, and you—the pet parent. You notice things at home we won’t see here, and we detect subtle changes you won’t see there. Together, we catch more concerns early and provide better care.

Puppies & Kittens
For the first six months or so of a puppy or kitten’s life, they need more frequent visits to monitor growth, behavior, and preventive needs. We also perform fecal testing at the first and last puppy or kitten visit to catch and clear parasites early.

Adult Pets
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to allergy and ear care. That’s why we offer a variety of treatment options, including Cytopoint injections, oral and topical medications, and customized plans tailored to your pet’s specific needs. We’ll walk you through the options and help find what works best for your pet.
Labs & Screenings: Why They Matter
Even healthy-seeming pets can have early, hidden changes in organs or metabolism. Annual lab screenings helps establish a baseline and catch shifts early. As pets age, we often expand panels to include urinalysis and thyroid testing, because early detection leads to better, easier care.
Wellness Care that Works with Your Pet’s Routine
Whether you’re scheduling a first puppy or kitten visit, an annual exam for your adult pet, or a senior checkup, we’ll build a plan that fits your pet and your life—low stress, highly personal, and reliably thorough. Give us a call today to learn more or to schedule an appointment.
